Silverstone, Great Britain: England, a country famous for its changeable weather conditions and the high risk of rain, tried to ruin once again the Moto2 qualifying of the sixth rendezvous of this season.
But the first rain drops arrived too late - just few minutes after the checkered flag, which allowed Jules Cluzel from the NGM Forward Racing Team qualify on a fantastic fourth place on the starting grid.
Alex Baldolini's day instead was less auspicious, he still used the qualifying to fine-tune the setup of the bike and had to start the race far from the front lines from the 34th position.
On race day both riders were ready to fight and in fact both achieved a great result under cold and pouring water. Jules Cluzel, the young French rider from Montlucon, celebrated his first victory right here in front of the British fans last year and achieved this year his best result of the season on this difficult English track in Silverstone ending up very close to the podium on fourth place! Alex Baldolini, who started from the back and managed to recover 20 positions, even more than during the last race in Barcelona, arrived 14th and was able to catch up some points.
DARK DOG congratulates its riders and the whole NGM Forward Racing Team and hopes to see both riders among the headliners during the next race on 25th of June in Assen, Netherlands.
4. Position
"A good weekend for me and the team as we were competitive with all the weather conditions. We handled the dry with a fourth place in qualifying and the rain with a fourth position during the race. My feeling with the bike is improving with every session, I have more confidence, I feel the grip and I open the gas earlier in the exit of the corners. Actually this situation makes me really confident for next the rounds of the championship. This race was very hard, but the rain was not the only reason, even the temperature was so low that I was absolutely looking forward to its end. Furthermore I was not able to see my sign board until I returned to the pit box, so I was convinced that I had finished fifth and the surprise that I nearly ended up on the podium injected me an extra dose of confidence for the next races!"
14th position
"The final result is not that bad because we managed to find a good setting for the race after a difficult weekend. But I had to start from the back of the grid and especially during the first laps, there was plenty of water on the track with a constant risk of aquaplaning. Even though I did a good race, climbing up position by position until the fourteenth place when I crossed the chequered flag. Now we have to improve our performance principally in qualifying, finding good setup solutions faster in the way to make me feel comfortable on the bike already on Saturday."
