The MotoGP is the premier motorcycle racing world championship: Eighteen races, taking place in fourteen countries on four continents. Global television coverage ensures the MotoGP to be a huge event with worldwide attention.
On every race day there will be three individual races, one for each category. The MotoGP is the highest level with a minimum age for the riders of 18 years. The Moto2 is the new 4-stroke class, announced in December 2008. It replaces the 250cc category from 2010. All engines are provided by Honda and Dunlop supplies the riders with its high quality tyres. 2011 is the second season for Dark Dog in the Moto2. 2010 was the first time for Dark Dog and already a successful year for the rider Jules Cluzel, with one victory, two podiums, one pole position and a 7th position overall the young Frenchman is perfectly prepared for this years’ season. For Italian rider Alex Baldolini it is the first time in the Forward Racing Team, but he can demonstrate many years of experience.
The third category is the 125cc class; it is one of the new projects of the Forward Racing Team and the first step for young riders into World Championship competition. The talented riders are between 15 and 28 years old and have a promising future in motorsports. In 2008 Qatar celebrated the first night time Grand Prix in history, following the construction of permanent outdoor lighting.
The switch to night time racing was a success and has continued to be so, with the Qatar event now established as one of the most spectacular on the MotoGP calendar.
