One point for Corti

after difficult race under tricky weather conditions

Phillip Island, Australia: The fifteenth race of the season did not end as expected for the Forward Racing Team, which will leave Phillip Island with only one point scored by Claudio Corti. The young Italian rider made a good race starting from the fourth row. When the lights got green Claudio managed to follow the group battling for the positions from seventh to fifteenth, with competitors such as the current world champion Toni Elias. Continuing his positive trend, Claudio ended up for the sixth consecutive time in the top 15. The triple of the difficult non-European races faced on unknown tracks and with tricky weather conditions has seen him always close to the fastest, demonstrating his talent and ability to learn and adapt quickly to new realities.

Unfortunately Jules Cluzel compromised his race in the second corner with a trip in the grass that made him lose more than seventeen seconds from the leader, passing the finish line in the last position. The following come back has been slowed down by a problem with the right footrest, which prevented the young French rider to achieve a better final result than the twenty-third position. It’s a real shame for Jules because he felt very comfortable with his bike and could have done a very good race, as he was able to ride the same lap times as in the qualifying practice even without the footrest. Admirable act that demonstrates once again the strong determination of the rider, who has completed a race that others would have abandoned. The next race will take place on 31st October 2010 in Estoril, Portugal and DARK DOG as well as Team Forward Racing are confident of further improvement with only one aim: to finish the upcoming race on the podium in order to score as many points as possible for the final standing of the world championship.

Claudio Corti

15th position
„Unfortunately, I wasted a good opportunity because the bike went really well. At the beginning I recovered to the group in front of me, but once achieved I could not keep my pace and overtake. I was lacking a little bit of speed on the straight but at the end I finished the race with a gap of only one second from the world champion Toni Elias, and I got points for the sixth time in row. Now I have to face another unknown track in Estoril, but after the results of my last three races, I’m not scared at all.”

Jules Cluzel

23rd position
„I made a mistake at the second corner, a rider in front of me braked too early, so I had to do the same and I ran wide. After this for a couples of laps I had to be careful as I tried to clean and to warm up again the tyres, what made me lose even more time. Then once I could push I broke the right footrest and I had to continue nearly the whole race without support for my foot. If I think about this problem I can be very happy about the lap times I managed to do, but I’d better don’t think about it, because otherwise I get angry for the opportunity thrown away. I could really do a good race.“
