Misano, San Marino:
The weekend of the San Marino Grand Prix started in the best way for the Forward Racing Team. For this appointment three riders were on the track to defend the colors of the team. In addition to Jules Cluzel and Claudio Corti, there was also Ferruccio Lamborghini, wild card from the Supersport CIV. The twelfth round of the Moto2 World Championship was like a home race for the Forward Racing Team, which had tried everything to make a remarkable performance during the whole weekend.
The first free practice saw the Forward Racing Team riders on the top of the timesheet with a convincing Claudio Corti, who ended up in the first row after being constantly fast. Also his French teammate Jules Cluzel performed well between the corners of the Santa Monica circuit, by finishing in the second row. The young Italian wild card, Ferruccio Lamborghini, put himself in a promising 14th position leaving behind many experienced riders as Rolfo, Takahashi or Luthi.
There was an overwhelming sadness at Misano as riders and teams expressed their sorrow at the tragic death on Sunday of Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa. During such a sad day the positive race conducted by the Forward Racing team riders, who ended up in sixth (Jules Cluzel), ninth (Claudio Corti) and 23rd (Ferruccio Lamborghini) position, became only boundary after the official announcement of the tragic accident that occurred at the fifteenth lap.
DARK DOG and the entire Forward Racing Team expresses its sincere condolences to his family, his team and all his friends. It has been an honour for us to know him and to compete with him; he remains forever in our hearts.
23rd position
"I am sad about what happened today. My race was good. For the first time I did a long run and did not know how the tires would behave. In fact I struggled a bit 'when they started to decline‘. Important experience on track; I’ll need it in the future. "
6th position
„After a good start I could not keep the pace of the fastest during the second half of the race, unfortunately I had to slow down when the rear tire started to lose grip to avoid to crash out. Now we are working on the solution of this problem. But right now my thoughts are with Shoya and his family. As riders we know well which risk we take every time we are on track, always hoping that nothing happens.“
9th position
„My best race of the season, unfortunately marred by a tragic event: the death of our friend Shoya. Everything takes a back seat. These things should never happen. We will try to continue on our path but he will always be in our minds.“
